German hackers hit major banks

Protecting bank accounts online is the most important aspect of online banking. Under no circumstances should you ever go to a bank web site via an email and punch in your account details.
If you ever receive an email from you bank then confirm the email. Pick up the phone and call your bank. Your bank will never ask you for your personal details in an email.
What happens if you do fall victim to a hoax email claiming to be from your bank?
It usually means that your account balance has dropped or your credit card has been maxed out. Now, while the banks are understanding and will cover your losses due to fraud, you will however, be inconvenienced and this could be for some time as the financial mess is sorted out.
German hackers have hit the customers of four major banks across Europe and the US in recent times stealing more than $200,000 that the banks know about.
They have used a sophisticated Trojan that acts like a human. They have also targeted business accounts, which generally have the ability to conduct wire transfers which not all personal bank accounts online have.
